Taylor's Bio

A young and vibrant soprano, Taylor Barr graduated with her Master of Music degree from Temple University in Philadelphia studying with Dr. Lorie Gratis-Harris. Mrs. Barr completed her Bachelor of Music at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where she was involved in the university's Opera Theatre program.

As a student, Mrs. Barr has studied many operatic roles including, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi (Opera Susquehana), Suor Osmina and Una Novicia in Suor Angelica (Temple University, and Opera Susquehana)Amore in L'incoronazione di Poppea (Halifax summer Opera Program). Despina in Cosi fan tutte (Temple University), Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi (West Chester University), Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief (Temple University), and Ilia in Idomeneo (West Chester University). 

In the fall of 2024, Taylor performed with the Milburn Stone Theatre (North East, MD) in Ride the Cyclone. There she performed the role of Jane Doe.

In 2019 Taylor had the pleasure to study and perform with Opera Susquehanna. While there she met with Carole Farley and Kevin Short from the Metropolitan Opera House and received insight on her career in the arts. 

On the concert stage, Ms. Barr has performed as a soloist in the Mozart Requiem, the Vivaldi Gloria, and Handel's Messiah.

Barr None Studio

Barr None is a new music instruction studio developed by Taylor and Fred Barr. Our mission is to develop musicianship in students through a creative and personalized approach that considers student goals and needs. We specialize in voice, theory, woodwinds, and history.

Voice Lessons

Hone your skills and unlock your potential with lessons catered to your voice and goals. Each lesson will consist of warm-ups, repertoire review and coaching, and a consultation on practice skills and techniques. 

Voice Lessons will be held with Mrs. Taylor either locally in person or virtually on a case by case basis. All ages are accepted based on availability.

Woodwind Lessons

Whether you are a hobbyist looking to return to your old instrument, a student looking to develop your skills and prepare for an audition, or you're just picking up an instrument, we are here to teach woodwind players.

Both Mrs. Taylor and Mr. Fred have significant backgrounds playing woodwind instruments. Beginner to intermediate clarinet (Eb, Bb, and Bass) lessons, beginner flute lessons, and beginner oboe lessons are available from Taylor or Fred. 

Fred will also teach beginner to advanced saxophone (soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone) lessons based on availability. 

Bassoon lessons are not available at this time.

Music Theory and History Lessons

Whether you are in grade school or college, we are here to help. Mr. Fred is a Master of Music Theory and Doctoral candidate at Temple University. Mrs. Taylor graduated WCU with her minor in Music History with a focus on classical music, opera, and Mozart.
